Exploring Southern Utah in 2017 is going to be easy over the summer months. June was just the beginning of a steady stream of activities and visits we’ve planned to some awesome places in Southern Utah as well as the Uintah Basin and Utah County.

Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park

This first picture was taken early in June from the Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park. It’s located on the east side of Washington City. The park is right next to the Virgin River and is known for some pretty incredible skimboarding. The park has multiple tournament-grade soccer fields and pickleball courts. It also has a duck pond, a playground, and a splash pad. This park is filled with ample activities and is one of the premier parks in Washington County and Southern Utah.

Roosevelt and Vernal UT

We broke the rules a little with our next destinations by traveling outside of Southern Utah but still found some pretty amazing destinations that I feel are worth mentioning.

On a trip to visit my family in Roosevelt and Vernal, we stopped at the Bridal Veil Falls located in the canyon between Provo and Heber City Utah. In my opinion, these are the most beautiful Falls in the state but they are also extremely easy to access and a good place for a break if you’re traveling on a long journey.

Heber City UT

After the falls we stopped at the famous Dairy Keen restaurant in Heber City. This is one of our regular stops as it has a Train theme and my son absolutely loves Trains. But if that wasn’t enough the food and shakes are also amazing.

While in Vernal my brother introduced us to a mountain biking trail located north of Vernal City. The trail is called jazzy and has become one of my all-time favorites. The seven-mile trail includes views of Red Fleet State park which I learned this trip received its name because the red rocks resemble a fleet of red battleships.

Cedar City UT

Later in the month, we discovered another trail in Cedar City called Lichen It. It’s on the south of town behind the Holiday Inn and I may say this too much but this too became one of my favorite mountain biking trails. This one is only 3 miles so we actually ended up doing it twice. At the top of the trail is an amazing view of the newly constructed Cedar City Utah Temple.

To finish the month of June off we decided to take a break from traveling and spent a night camping in our back yard. As much as I love to see the world, nothing compares to my love of coming home to St George and it looks like I’m not the only one either, these are the hummingbirds that have decided to take up residence on our back porch.
